Senior Software Engineer - Infrastructure

As a senior member of PayJoy's Infrastructure Engineering Team, you will lead the effort to scale our systems to support our customers worldwide. While our backend architecture meets our needs at our current scale, many improvements are needed to support our goal of serving a billion users over the next several years.

The successful candidate is excited about the opportunity to build the next generation of PayJoy’s infrastructure and server platform. You will have also worked with a number of different backend systems and have a good sense for what works well and what doesn’t.

We’re looking for someone with a collaborative spirit who likes to get things done. You’ll have many internal partners eager to work with you: our Data Scientists, Data Engineers, API Engineers, and others. You’ll get to learn from the challenges in front of you as well as from your talented colleagues.


  • Propose, design and execute infrastructure projects in support of scaling, availability, and engineering productivity
  • Refine our approach to infrastructure-as-code, evolving our architecture to meet future needs
  • Support and optimize AWS Cloud Infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, System Monitors, Alerts, and more
  • Work to improve the features and ease of use of these cross-cutting tools
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure inefficiencies and other problems
  • Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science or other technical discipline
  • 2+ years of software development experience 
  • 5+ years with infrastructure and engineering
  • Experience with a variety of AWS products, including ECS, RDS, VPC, Load Balancing and more
  • Experience creating and maintaining with CircleCI, Terraform (Kubernetes a plus) and Datadog
