Principal Software Engineer

As a Principal Engineer, you will build technology to support millions of customers worldwide. This includes our backend services to integrate with global payment providers, internal applications and data-driven risk modeling to support our financial products, as well as world-class app backend and partner API integrations. As a key part of PayJoy’s global engineering team, you should expect to take on complex technical challenges and be willing to learn new technologies. 


  • Responsible for creating high level architecture, detailed design and the strategy for implementing applications aligning with PayJoy’s overall strategic vision
  • Jointly own, with DevOps teams, operational stability of the components and be in a position to affect change to improve the on-going robustness and stability of the system
  • Work with engineers across the organization to prudently leverage existing technology
  • Teach and mentor engineering managers and contributors to help them make technical decisions that align with PayJoy's strategy and vision
  • Requirements

  • Strong technical background including 12+ years of designing and building software
  • Experience of the following is highly desirable: JAVA, JavaScript, Angular, Docker, PHP, Python, MySQL
  • Highly proficient in building microservices, Cloud technologies (AWS preferred), B2B connections related to Payments and designing or implementing public facing REST APIs
  • Designed and built something new that scaled
  • Fixed something that did not scale and made it scale (FinTech domain strongly preferred)
