Mery Espinoza is 52, Venezuelan, and runs a cleaning products business called Smartlin with her family in Quito, Ecuador. She left Venezuela in 2019, a hard decision, leaving behind the life she'd built since birth, to start over somewhere new.

The Challenge

Starting a business in a new country meant starting from zero, including no credit history with local banks or cooperatives. When Mary needed to replace her phone, getting financing through traditional channels wasn't realistic.

A New Way to Pay

PayJoy gave Mary a way in. She got her first phone  and quickly saw what it could do for the business: video, customer service, quotes, cost management, all from one device.

Later, as the business grew, Mary's daughters started running a chatbot that handles customer service and closes sales. That meant a second phone — more storage, more speed, more capability. PayJoy financed that upgrade too.

‍Measuring the Growth

Smartlin is still growing. Mary's goal is for the brand to reach homes around the world, carrying Venezuela's name with it.
